SFC Daniel Sigmon hails from Cleveland, Ohio, from where he enlisted in the United States Army as an infantryman (11B) in July 2002. SFC Sigmon completed Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT) in November 2002 and was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
From 2003–2005, SFC Sigmon served in 2-35 IN on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, as a rifleman, grenadier, and rifle team leader; he then served in 1-14 IN at the same duty station as a rifle team leader, Stryker vehicle commander, rifle squad leader, weapons squad leader, and infantry platoon sergeant.
From 2011–2014, SFC Sigmon served in 1-15 IN on Ft. Benning, Georgia, as weapons squad leader and a battalion operations NCOIC; he served in 2-54 IN at the same location as an OSUT drill sergeant, and an OSUT platoon senior drill sergeant.
From 2016–2019, SFC Sigmon served as a memorial affairs platoon sergeant in 1/3 IN (The Old Guard) and as the Military District of Washington–National Capitol Region Army liaison to medically evacuated battle injured servicemembers arriving on Andrews Airforce Base, Maryland. SFC Sigmon was assigned to United States Army Cadet Command as a military science instructor in December, 2019, at IUPUI.
SFC Sigmon has deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom IV (2004–2005), to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi freedom VII-IX (2007–2009), and again to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom X and Operation New Dawn (2010–2011).
SFC Sigmon earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College, graduating Summa Cum Laude, in 2019. He is currently pursuing professional certification in financial management.
SFC Sigmon’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (6OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (3OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal (5th award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, the Afghani Campaign Medal with one campaign star, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3 device, the Army Parachutists Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, the Drill Sergeant’s Badge, the Drivers Badge, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
